You’d think after living in an ice state like Michigan and then experiencing a full year in California, this cooler weather in SoCal would be a breeze- but I’m weirded out! To be busting out pants instead of dresses and skirts is so strange, but I think it’s because the transition was so abrupt. Let me just say, packing for these mission trips was not easy! A week into the Philippines I was already borrowing my Lola’s duster/nightgown. I thank God for my auntie who gave me some of her hand-me downs which consist of the most comfortable shift dresses with patterns that vary from dainty lace to abstract geometric shapes. Exhibit A, this ’80s printed, lightweight, and above-the-knee dress that makes me wish I was an extra on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Your love for me is great, Your love for me is known
And through these formidable obstacles of this life
You hold out Your mighty hand
My heart clings to You
My arms reach out to Your glorious heaven above
My flesh screams, “Never let go”
You simply answer, “My daughter, I never left”
Your grace pierces my chest
And penetrates my soul
For it has found rest
I breathe You in as I open my eyes
Your abundant goodness dawns another chance
And hope is encountered once again
