The Dominican Republic will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only because it was my first country I went on a missions trip to or that I had my amazing first experience in jewelry and visual merchandising at 16 years old or that my uncle’s house is literally like paradise, but it’s the friendships and the people that I’ve had the blessing of getting to know. Many of which I still stay in contact with today. I never expected to meet such wonderful people; I just thought I would be in-and-out of a country my relatives had a connection with. But as you can see in the above photo, my face wasn’t red because I got burnt from the sun! No, those were tears on my last night with my newfound friends.

Whewwwwwwwww holy cow. One year has gone by already?! It feels like it’s only been a few months, but yes, as of August 12, I have been living in the Philippines for exactly one year!!! I slept over my new friend Hanna’s place from Wednesday-Sunday night and we celebrated my one year mark last Friday night which included dinner at M-Cafe, walking through Makati, eating chocolate covered bacon at Chocolate Fire for the first time, and dancing the night away. ❤
With Photo Booth at hand every day, here are our documentary day shots…
Thursday night: Our new creations: earrings and hats!
Friday morning: Pre Creative Problem Solving class. Fashion Friday theme: Sonia Rykiel.
Friday night: Gettin’ readyyyyyyyy with our newly made feather earrings. The last time I took my sequined dress out was during my senior year snowcoming dance. Yes, it still fits!
I vividly remember coming into this country scared out of my pants and not having a single clue on how life would turn out, but boy oh boy, the things that have happened. It has not been easy adjusting to life here and it’s been such a roller coaster; this whole experience so far has been incredibly challenging, yet interesting and fun at the same time. It has definitely changed my perspective on life overall and I know I am truly blessed! I am so excited to see what else God has in store for me. For everyone who continues to stand by my side throughout this whole journey so far I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. The people that love, care, support, and encourage me daily whether it be physically or a Skype session, each conversation I have with you is special and makes my day shine brighter. You know who you are 🙂 Thank you for everything and I love you so much! One more year- let’s go!

It was so chilly outside today! But somehow I bared the coldness and went out and took pictures in a very light top and cardigan. I’m starting to really miss my shorts. 😦
This is Katelyn Crain aka C2 (co-captain); basically the girl that was by my side all throughout senior year of high school. “All” meaning basically every day. Today we went to our old high school (2 years later!!) to visit some old teachers, walk the old hallways, and basically reminisce about our former high school years. I honestly never thought I would be the person that would look back and wish I could go back. But I am…we are. Haha, pathetic? Probably to many. But we’re okay with that. 🙂
