Christmastime in Chicago

My family and I went to Chicago for less than 48 hours, and mainly for business than pleasure, but with a family like mine (including a little brother I can always poke fun with) the “pleasure” portion was inevitable!

Chicago Day 2: April Showers

From the looks of these photos you probably wouldn’t have guessed it was raining like cats and dogs in Chicago just hours ago! We tried to maximize all of our time so my family and I drove around bustling Downtown Chicago while soaking in what we could (no pun intended). The weather may have been gloomy and gray but the hustle and bustle of the city was still energetic as businessmen walked drenched in their suits and interns ran out of Starbucks with a coffee carrier and paper bags. After the sun broke through we had lunch in Chinatown and I left like a cheerful little girl with a taro milk tea in hand.

Ready for the rain and mugginess yet lack of any type of raincoat and rain boots, I opted for this multi-colored cape for some ventilation from the humidity and booties I didn’t mind splashing in some puddles which, by the way, are so comfortable! Unlike me, I’m sure you have proper gear for the rain. What do you wear out?

Final day and look from Chicago will be posted later this week! In the meantime, please check out #JirehForFour; your support would be greatly appreciated!

Chicago Day 1: Car Comfort

Forever 21 pants Timberland boots camo jacket Jireh De JoseMini getaway/visiting family in Chicago #ootd travel diary starts…now!

Typically when I get to travel I personally don’t like wearing sweats and a hoodie at the airport; I feel groggy and unprepared for the coming venture. However, when you’re in a car to the nonpublic eye for five hours I think it’s acceptable to slip on comfy yet chic clothes. Ergo my oversize camo jacket with wool-like lining and these ultra drop-crotch harem pants which both provided the perfect comfort while not totally sacrificing the fashion forward sense. You can easily swap these MC Hammer pants for some joggers, too. Check out my post on some jogger-inspo here! And of course, the Timbs to complete the urban look. Gotta love ’em!

What do you wear while traveling?

Chicago Day 2 Pre-Wedding!

1. Been trying to hunt down some men’s graphic t-shirts to cut into muscle T’s so I can show off my guns obviously.

2. How BANGIN’ is this necklace though? A gold chain necklace has been on my summer list for the longest time. I finally found one at SA for $4, but of course Forever 21 came out with this the next day. Couldn’t resist. Anyone else thinking of Aslan from Chronicles of Narnia?

3. “Don’t smile. Look mean.” -Mom
Yeah, that was unsuccessful.

4. Drug Abuse Resistance Education. D.A.R.E., kids, D.A.R.E.

Have a great Monday!

A summer isn’t complete until you attend at least one wedding. Seriously.
Wedding #1, my cousin’s in Chicago, Illinois.

1. Found this outfit the day before we left. Went to five different stores after work and ended back at Forever 21 three hours later. Should have started there in the first place. (This was after an unsuccessful thrift store search, of course).

2. Post-wedding ceremony: getting our Chicago hot dog grub on.
