“You are imperfect. Permanently and inevitably flawed- and you are beautiful.” – Amy Bloom

Christian fashion bloggerDid anyone else wake up this Monday and just know it’s going to be a great week?? Just the fact that it’s expected to be in the mid to high-70s (basically perfection) in Michigan brings a smile to my heart!

Also, did anyone know that your fall boots are the new cocktail shoes? Yep, you can now wear your Timberlands (or faux Timbs like mine) to your next dinner party! According to Vogue Runway, “…from a graphic coat and slip-dress pairing to frocks lacy-frilled, metallic, or tulle, these boots were made for walking all over your evening agenda…”

But for those not as daunting, we can stick to pairing them with jeans and plaid- the epitome of fall fashion for a Michigander. Besides the booties, felt hats, burgundy becoming the new black, and seeing more modesty, I love layering in the fall! Here’s some layering inspiration for you heading into the new season: Layer Loving.

Warm in Wool

jireh de jose fashion meets godOuterwear is something I tend to overlook. In Michigan, you only wear it for a season, although it’s the longest, take it off once you’re inside, and…done! That’s probably why my former was a red peacoat that I wore every winter in the mitt for since high school and didn’t bother to purchase a new one until I saw this 100% wool coat at a thrift store for only $20. Long silhouettes have been very popular this season with neutral colors from off white to camel and helps elongate your figure. Just goes to show you don’t have to settle for marshmallow puff jackets (all the time)!

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”

Camo print is becoming a big staple in my wardrobe. Just like leopard print, I believe camo is a pattern that will never go out of style. I paired these pants with a high-low top with major slits at the side seams. For someone who seems to overheat anywhere and anytime, the fabric on this blouse is perfectly lightweight and airy. I added a touch of texture with one of my favorite go-to scarves, a black fringed mass from Forever 21. Scrunching ankle-high socks over your pants with some chunky heeled boots give a different take on layering for colder seasons. Which, by the way, I can’t believe there’s no snow in Michigan at the moment. Usually we’re taking on a few feet of snow by now. But hey, I’ll take it!

Hope you all enjoyed the last #OOTD of 2014! Check back in this week for the last few posts of the year including fashion meets God’s Top 10 Posts of 2014!

Have a blessed day!

Tribal Thanksgiving

Jireh De Jose fashion meets God billabong sweater Forever 21 necklace tribal print sweater Charlotte Russe shoesHello! How was your Thanksgiving? Anyone still going strong on leftovers?

*Clap clap clap* to the weather this past weekend! It was definitely something to be thankful for; I took advantage of the warmer temperatures by taking some look shots on Thanksgiving! I’ve already outworn this sweater this fall- it is incredibly comfy and less than $10 from Sal Val. Jeans are typically the familiar go-to for these oversize sweaters but because of the holiday, I decided to dress up a bit more with a dress, tights, and these Charlotte Russe booties. Taking a break from black tights and boots and sporting more fall-toned colors such as burgundy and brown is refreshing!

Hope your week starts off with hope and excitement! Another Monday is still another opportunity to do life right. Live it.
