A Place to Call Home (Our House is for Sale!)

2750 ortonville house 21

It’s been a few weeks since I last spoke about my parents packing up their lives and moving back to the Philippines and now their house in MI is officially on the market!

Can I just rave about my parents for a second? They have been on a very time sensitive schedule and getting to this point of the house actually being on the market has been a crazyyyyy ride. They only started on the house in November, and now, after repainting, recarpeting, remodeling, packing, all while working full time jobs, all their hard work has allowed them to start showings and open houses- within three months!!

Looking through the online listing and viewing all the realtor’s photos has obviously gotten me so soft and sentimental. My brain screams, “it’s actually happening!” Each photo (which I’ve compiled into this video) and its rooms have such fond and special memories. The kitchen and dining area has served as the room of countless get togethers and precious times with family. The living room has been a place of rest and winding down after long days at school or work along with years of celebrating special occasions like Christmas mornings and even a wedding! The basement was the hot spot for clean high school parties (especially my sophomore and junior year) including my Sweet 16. We’d have dance offs, play ping pong, and stuff our young faces with soda and pizza.

As sad and weird as it is to say goodbye to that house, I look forward to seeing it go to the next family who will cherish it just as much as we did. Who will encounter blessings and fun times along with other seasons of trials and growth. Who will continue to grow their family, too, and maybe even have a furry friend by their side for 15 years just as we did. Whoever it may be, I know God’s got a special family in store!

Here’s to cheerful endings and new beginnings!
