“It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realized what’s changed is you.”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald
This was such an unexpected trip back home to MI. As in, we got my ticket Wednesday night and I flew out Thursday morning, haha. But it’s been so great to be back! I returned home to make it to my younger brother’s grad party on Saturday (sooooo weird he is almost headed off to college, btw) and my dad’s birthday on Sunday. My older brother and his family flew in from Delaware, too, so it’s been such a wonderful and joyful weekend together!
It’s been almost a year since I’ve been home (I left for California almost a year ago!) and everything is still the same. There are few changes to my little town of Ortonville and it’s so funny to actually react in awe to a new little shop here, a new billboard there. Those are big deals in a town with only about 10 street lights.
Nothing beats actually being in my parent’s house though and walking through the yard. One of my favorite things about being home is taking Sunday sunset strolls and being surrounded by nature and breathing in fresh, country air. While playing a good country playlist!
Here’s what I wore to my younger brother’s graduation party! My first off-the-shoulder top. Yep, I know this trend has been around for so long but I forgot I had this buried in my closet in MI! It’s so breezy and flowy; the perfect top to wear when you know you’re about to feast- haha!
Until next time!
