25 Going On 6 (For a Day)

“You’ve got a new story to write. And it looks nothing like your past.”

I’m 25!!! And how did I spend my quarter-life mark, you ask? In the most kiddie way possible: Disneyland. My inner six-year-old princess was so happy.

I tend to get really sentimental on my birthday. Seriously. It’s like I imagine some dramatic climax background music playing until 12:00 midnight hits and BOOM! I’m another age. I look back at the past 24 years and I thank God for the adventures we’ve taken together. From studying in the largest Christian school in Virginia, becoming a dance teacher and fashion student in the Philippines, designing and blogging for the fashion industry in Detroit, going on four mission trips across the world in one summer, a two-month stint in California, and now permanently residing in the state in an industry I never thought I’d be in. Life never really got boring. And it’s only just the beginning.

Every birthday, God stirs up dreams in my heart that revs me up for a new year and I believe a breakthrough and His purpose and calling for my life will reveal itself this year. Gosh, I don’t know what that looks like but I can feel it!

But let’s be honest, you don’t have to wait for your birthday to have a turning point in your life because it’s never too late to have a new beginning! And maybe, juuuuust maybe, we could treat everyday like it’s a birthday where we get all hyped before our big day and feel special for the next 24 hours. Because that’s exactly what our God sees us as. We are so special in His sight. He loves seeing the smile and spark in our eyes. So go start your new beginning my friend! You. Are. So. Special.

Thank you to all who have greeted and wished me well on my birthday! I love you all!
