Adorned in Armor: Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien

Tarah-Lynn

I love featuring women of God who believe in their dreams and goes for them with courage and confidence. They aren’t swayed by this corrupted world’s standards but are strong and firm in their identity in Christ. This fashionista is one of them. Not only is she a blogger at Adorned in Armor and an intern at ELLE.com, but she also recently got baptized! Introducing, Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien!

Hi guys! My name is Tarah-Lynn and that’s my full first name – I don’t have a middle lol. You can call me Tarah, though. Yes, with a “h” (raises pinky) haha. I’m 20 years old and I live in NJ. I’ve been blogging at Adorned in Armor for about 2 years now. Blogging pretty much is my favorite hobby. That, and hanging out with friends, family, and youth group whenever and wherever.

fashion meets God: What are your five go-to wardrobe pieces?

Tarah-Lynn: That’s hard because I don’t really have specific go-to wardrobe pieces. I just know I like looking extremely feminine and chic. I’m the biggest girly girl EVER. I’ve been drawn to light and loose fabrics lately. I also love boxy tops. I just want my body to breathe yet still be dressed modestly.

fmG: What has God been teaching you ever since you started blogging on faith and fashion?

TL: God has been teaching me patience. Oh my gosh. I couldn’t even begin to tell you the many things I want to do for my blog and my brand…God has just been telling me, “I got you, but on my time.” And I’m like, “But God, come on! I’m trying my best and I’m trying so hard.” But no matter what I say, I know His ways are greater and that in my waiting, He’s building my character. He’s also been teaching me that what’s mine has my name over it so I don’t have to try different tactics to reach for it. Oh! One of my most important lessons has been teaching me to pray before I post.

fmG: Interning for Elle.com is surely a dream come true! What does a day in the life look like for you?

TL: It’s an awesome feeling just coming into the building! Every day varies but what remains constant is the awe I feel riding up the escalator and looking up at the high windowed ceilings. Then, I ride up the elevator (yes, escalator then elevator haha) to my floor. I drop my things off in the ELLE.com interns section (the view is ah!) and I go greet my bosses to see if they need anything. Some days I help with the fashion or beauty closet. Other days I do both. And there are days where I’m solely on the computer helping them research stories and build galleries. I’ll run an errand once in awhile. It’s definitely a blessing to be able to say I’m a part of the team.

fmG: What advice would you give other Christian women trying to break into the fashion industry?

TL: Never lose sight of the One who gave you vision. The fashion industry is tough but your God is tougher. If you want to break into the industry, expect to do it with God’s bulldozer. Do all that you need to do in terms of landing your first fashion internship and build from there. But just always remember it’s because of Christ that you were chosen.
