#JirehForFour: The Good and Not-So-Good

#JFF Update 2Basically. From freaked out to acceptance to PRAYER. Okay guys, here’s the low-down:

Originally, I was going to travel to the Dominican Republic (DR) alone and be a “volunteer/non-group” missionary. I was going to avail of my relative’s house and transportation and spend only on food. This would obviously mean I wouldn’t have to spend on a regular group’s rate for hotel, food, and transportation. Now, unfortunately, I am apparently not needed in the city where my relative lives because I am not a Spanish translator or work in a local Dominican church. *Whomp*

But, will I let a challenge and a spiritual attack on my original plans keep me from God’s work? No! So I decided to go with the group (The Gathering at Oakland Church). However, I need to raise an extra $2,075 which includes my airfare to and from Miami to the DR, hotel, food, and site transportation by JUNE 1. We’ve got about a month to go. The more I trust and believe that God will provide, the more I realize $2,075 is 1 cent to the One who makes all things possible. I was a little thrown off to be honest (I mean, who doesn’t like saving a couple thousand bucks…) but a) I, along with every person that treats me like their own daughter, know I’ll be safer than traveling by myself and b) I now get to participate in nightly meetings where we’ll share testimonies and transformation stories from the day. That’s pretty awesome.

On to more good news:

A huuuuuuge thank you to all who donated so far. Seriously. Even to those who said “I know it’s not much…” but every. dollar. counts. There are so many accounts in the Bible where people gave all that they had even when it wasn’t much like Mary of Bethany and her perfume (John 12:3), the widow and two small coins (Mark 12:42), the widow in debt and flour and olive oil (2 Kings 17:8-24), and the little boy who gave all his five loaves of bread and two fish to feed 5,000 (Matthew 14). They were blessed with much more than they gave! Such a beautiful picture of God’s generosity. Thank you to all again!

Prayers are always appreciated as there is still so much to do and raise for. Believing and declaring in Jesus’ name!
