A Song for Your Soul: God I Look to You

Every morning since the year started, this song comes starts playing in my head once I wake up. I think it’s because the first verse pierces my heart deep every time and God just knows I need to be reminded of this:

God, I look to you
I won’t be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God, I look to you

You’re where my help comes from
Give me wisdom; You know just what to do

I think it’s safe to say that the first month of a new year can be a bit overwhelming. The holiday chaos may be over but we brainstorm all these new resolutions and try to detail our lives for the next 365 days. We declare we’ll lose “x” amount of pounds, save more money, be a kinder person, be punctual, re-write our business plan, attend church more, write more, get a job promotion, stop comparing ourselves to others, etc. We dream, we envision, and goal out our goals hoping we’ll stay on track and accomplish everything we desire. Talk about pressuring ourselves!

Before your brain explodes, take comfort in this: you do not have to walk this life alone. Whatever life throws at you in the next few days, months, or 10 months from now, God is with you. The peace you crave for is more than being happy-go-lucky. It’s trusting that you are taken cared of. Look to Him and He will provide. You are victorious. Go ahead and declare that for this year!
