Pinterest: the media site where you can “pin” countless of pictures onto your own creative boards ranging from food recipes, art work, history, health and fitness, DIYs, photography, hairstyles, interior decorating, inspirational quotes, and, of course, fashion. Personal style inspiration, sew-your-owns, and e-commerce has become an essential department within Pinterest. The site quickly grew and became the next “it” destination next to Facebook and Twitter.
Fast forward to today and the board haven is still buzzing. It provides something that many social media sites don’t and should implement- organization and the control over creating a personalized fantasy from 35+ categories with just the touch of a few clicks.
Despite what some fashionistas say who have fallen out of the Pinterest world and wonder why it’s still a major influencer, I personally am grateful for it. Not only can I be my OCD self of organizing and seasonally dating my boards, I also look to Pinterest for inspiration when I am at a dead end for new looks. Say I buy something but am stuck on how to style it, I type it in the search bar and hundreds of pictures flood onto my dashboard. I create a new board, pin what I like, then grab pieces from my own closet and create a new outfit derived from that pin. When I’m in need of more inspiration, I know I can depend on that board for inspo. For example (which was a real-case scenario):
Try it out for yourself and let the imagination flow! The more boards you create just goes to show the vastness of your creativity. Happy pinning!
