Michigan Fashion Week has officially come to an end. Yes, whiz past three months later and it all came down to this past Saturday. This experience has been such a whirlwind and I’ve learned so much, not just in designing, but myself as a person. Queue cheesiness but it’s so true!
We arrived at Ultimate Soccer Arenas at 9am for final fittings and the models’ last rehearsal. The setting was still raw of uncovered chairs and blank vendor tables but we could already vision all that would happen in the next 11 hours. After hours of waiting, fixing shoulder seams, and catching up on some much needed zzzzzz’s, the show started exactly at 8pm. Designers showcased all their hard work down the 100 foot runway with the epitome sound of catwalk music.
Story of “Darkness to Light:”
Inspired by verse John 12:46 that says, “I have come into this world as light so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” Its color palette from black to white represents life transformation while showcasing a woman’s femininity. Cohesiveness throughout the collection was a key focus in which I apparently achieved since I received compliments that it was in unison and it told the story. Here are a few photos!
I have to say a huge THANK YOU to all my prayer and sewing warriors! Even to those who have never sewn in their entire life. That is true friendship. I would not have been able to finish this collection on time if it weren’t for you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” -James 1:17
