Saturday May 3, 2014- Twelve designers, two showrooms, and one museum comprised Saturday’s fifth annual “Fashion Massacre” presented by FANCE. Held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), the New York Fashion Week inspired showcase highlighted the skills, knowledge, and talent that Detroit generates towards the fashion industry. The event, powered by Afhinoss and Lexus, consisted of six chapters with two brands concurrently displaying their collections. Guests had the opportunity to walk through MOCAD’s artistic rooms and view garments within close proximity to capture every detail, color, and embellishment. Following each chapter’s segment, designers spoke about their background, challenges, inspiration, opinion on Detroit’s involvement in the industry, and social media promotions. The presentations did not stop at the models’ platforms as the audience were dressed fashion forward from head-to-toe. MOCAD was surely a hot spot for style spotting!

As a faith and fashion fanatic, I was so encouraged and excited to meet the founders of Church Girl Roc, a Christian T-shirt brand. It’s so awesome to know that there are others who not only share the same passion in fashion as you do, but a passion for Christ especially locally.
