Faith Friday: Mighty Warrior

Two things I learned this week:

1) Be specific in prayer

2) Go all out for God

1) Be specific in prayer

Mom: “Do you ever pray for windows and doors of opportunities for the now? Not just for your future, but for your present?”

It took me a few seconds to comprehend. I eagerly wanted to respond “yes!” but came out with a flat “no” instead.

Praying for “windows and doors of opportunities” and related variations has become a fixed sentence in my prayer life. Deep down I knew God already knew the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4), but it wasn’t until my mom’s question and the following week I realized how important it is to make your words clear and distinct to Him. Sometimes direction and guidance for our future can become such a focus that we forget we greatly need it for the present, too.

I then started being very particular in my conversations with Him and HOLY LORD ALMIGHTY. I was blown away and overwhelmed by His answers. Five emails of opportunities came through, three meetings were beyond successful, my friend and I booked our tickets for Passion 2014, He gave me the courage and faith through two certain situations that seemed nearly impossible, I was able to assist in a store’s inventory on three hours of sleep in 48-hours, all throughout a 5:00am call time every day for work. Not to mention my mom was able to go to the Philippines crazy last minute, handing over the reins to take care of my younger brother. Wednesday’s midweek service at church was just God checking in making sure I was okay and last night’s youth leader party was His way of celebrating a whirlwind of a week. If God’s listening ears and faithfulness wasn’t evident through these past seven days then I don’t know what! #beyondthankful

2) Go all out for God

Sure enough that dumb roaring lion who looks for someone to devour tried to throw his distractions and doubt. Shocker. Faith was tested and anxiety seeped in Sunday night as I was mentally looking ahead to the week. As always, Scripture comforted me with Isaiah 41:10:

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Isn’t it awesome that God gives us the strength and victory before the test is actually given? Just so long as we are in Him, He will take care of literally ev-er-y-thing. Mark Batterson states in his book, “All In,”

The key to spiritual growth is the willingness to go out of your way for God. You will find God in uncomfortable places at inconvenient times. But if you go out of your way for God, God will go out of His way for You.

God used this week for our relationship to grow and soar more than ever before and He has placed whatever situation you’re going through for a purpose. It may be something as minor as tests and trials through a week or a complete turnaround, life changing decision. Thankfully we have Him to trust! He already knew all your current circumstances before they were known to you. It’s just a matter of deciding whether or not you’ll put Him on the sidelines or center court, guiding you through every step. If God brings you to it, rest assured God will bring you through it.

Here’s a song from Elevation Worship’s new album, “Only King Forever,” which is a 14-track statement of glorifying God. When you feel faithless, He is faithful. He will be your Mighty Warrior, already prepared to overcome all.
