Radiant Orchid During Winter

Goodbye Emerald, helloooo Radiant Orchid!
What do you think of 2014’s color of the year?
If “stunning” comes to mind, I agree! According to Pantone it is “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” Who loves it even more?
However, the thought of flower beds in the spring and summertime immediately bloom into mind. I can already predict radiant orchid chiffon pieces and bauble jewelry in the next few months. So, if this is 2014’s color, what about the first and last few months? Don’t fret- this color can be worn during the year’s “-ber” and “brrrr” days.
Radiant Orchid- During Winter!
1) Warm up with a sweater or sweater dress and accessorize. There’s a reason why purple and yellow go great together; they’re both complementary colors! Choose a printed scarf to break down the complete solidness of the sweater. Ditch the classic black tights for now and try grey with black footwear. A bow tied with the scarf and a ruffle touch on the socks give an extra hint girly-ness to the ensemble.
2) Going out? Get radiant in a dress! Faux fur jackets are a fun and bold way to dress up and yes, there are some out there that doesn’t make you look like Chewbacca. Glam it up with jewelry that includes a dash of fuschia-purple-pink for added cohesiveness.
3) Using radiant orchid in the accessory department alone is a great way to celebrate the year’s color if your anti-purple, your style is minimalistic, or if you’re orchi-ed out after wearing outfits #1 and #2 throughout the week. Apply the color to a purse, a necklace, shoes, or something as simple as your belt. As I always say, accessories is “the cherry on top.”
Radiant orchid is already showcasing on runways so get ready! How will you style it?
“Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.” -Psalm 34:5
