Hold Me Still

Happy Saturday! Another week down, and, my goodness, what a week it has been hence this post being Faith Friday Saturday.

You know when you want something really bad? Your thoughts begin to encircle around the situation so much that you’re incessantly praying to God to make it all come true? It could be something as small as making it to work with a gas tank at “E” or bigger things such as landing your dream job (hello, Associate Designer at Forever 21 whaaatt?). I encountered all of the above. Throughout the beginning of the week I’d spend more time in the Word and pray more- as in in the car with WMUZ 103.5 “The Light” on, at the store walking down aisles, or even at work surrounded by customers. I felt like a Muslim (but not) praying five times a day and more. By mid-week, rejection and disappointment hit. Whomp. What a low. Then God said, “You’ll be okay. Don’t forget I have great things in store for you. Things that you never even thought possible. But honestly, you should have faith like that on a daily basis and not just when you want something.” Bam. Spiritual slap!

Being constantly close is what He wants with all of us because He loves us. I say that a lot. But it’s so true. He has  before we were even born. That is pretty rad.

I heard these two songs on the radio before the events of the week. I think He sent these for comfort and to prepare me for the week ahead. Yep, they’ve been on repeat ever since. I hope you love these songs as much as I do!

We believe there is purpose, there is meaning in everything
We surrender to His leading
He wants nothing more than to have us close
We can trust our God
He knows what He’s doing
Though it might hurt now
We won’t be ruined
It might seem there’s an ocean in between
But He’s holding on to you and me
And He’s never gonna leave
He is with us

You said don’t worry ‘bout your future daughter
Just think about the things that matter
So I won’t magnify the small the small things anymore
I’ll only glorify the Father

‘Cause you, hold me still
When the waves around begin to build
I’m in your hand
Though sometimes it’s hard to stand
You have my heart and you hold it still

“If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” (Psalm 37: 23, 24)

“This is what the Lord says- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48: 17)
