Grace Like Rain

I was studding away my denim shorts in my room while peering outside my window at the sight of definite spring weather. All of a sudden my mom said,

“Let’s dance in the rain?”

It was a moment that took a few minutes transitioning into. The rain and grey skies succumbed me into a monotone state; no emotions, no expression, barely any reaction. After I gained some motivation I grabbed my laptop and speakers and walked downstairs. Soon after I ran outside with the music behind me, I realized grace was surrounding the entire scene.

Grace. God’s free and unmerited favor for our sinful humanity. Every breath and step we take, morning we wake up, meal we digest, and every “I just saw my life flash before my eyes” moment is a sign of this amazing and sufficient gift. It’s a culmination of experiences, a new, divine perspective, and God’s answer to life. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus says,

“My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Who knew that God sees our weaknesses as our strongest point? How beautiful and loving is that? So whatever you’re doing take a deep breath and let it out. You, my friend, are blessed.

I’m sure I’ve blogged about this song before but it paints a humbling picture of grace:

“And You answer, ‘My child, I love you and as long as you’re seeking my face, you’ll walk in the power of my daily sufficient grace.'”
