Just a snippet of a conversation I had with my younger brother regarding fashion history:
Isaac: I have to figure out what to wear to school tomorrow. It’s ’50s day.
Me: Ooooh! Okay, go for a suit, a bow tie, and suspenders.
Isaac: Jireh, whaaat are you taaalking about? The ’50s was the greaser look!
Well, we were both right. The suit and tie was popular from the reserved ’40s and the leather jacket, slicked hair look was a go-to look for those rebellious young men. How could I have forgotten about the greasers? I had a crush on Danny Zuko!
Somehow that dialogue became the overall inspiration for Monday’s outfit. Subtract the poodle skirt and you have Rizzo meets Kenickie. I couldn’t bring myself to slick back or even curl my hair for this one though. This is as natural as it gets!
