Re-Fashioned in Faith

Here is a sneak peek/sample of an upcoming project I am currently working on! I bought these jeans a few months ago and was inspired to DIY them for a while now. I’m very happy with the outcome and the best part is it took less than an hour!

Some may have a question regarding this so I shall take my stance on this topic: using Christianity motifs, particularly the cross, in fashion which is seen everywhere. As I scrolled through tweets with #fashion and #faith, the use of the cross on clothes and accessories was a sensitive issue to some; that it shouldn’t be used as a fashion statement but rather as a remembrance of the torture and sacrifice Christ endured 2,000 years ago. However, I not only see the cross as that, but as a sign of promise, freedom, and salvation. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. Through that I have been forgiven and saved. It is my heart’s desire to share that with everyone I can while I’m on earth. Jesus says in Matthew 16:24, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” I try to carry my cross day by day and wearing it is another proclamation of my faith and love for Him.

Sadly this issue among many, many others creates a crack in the body of believers. I pray that this post doesn’t offend anyone in any way; that is not my intention at all. I am simply blogging towards Just Jireh’s primary focus: to bridge faith and fashion together.

“To take our cross and follow Jesus means to be willing to publicly identify with him, to experience almost certain opposition and to be committed to face even suffering and death for his sake.” (Life Application Study Bible, NIV, Zondervan)
