Happy is a Noun

Happiness. What makes happiness? I had a really hardcore reflection on this for the past 15 minutes and as I was watching the movie Flywheel tonight, I was so inspired and happy by how a man’s life was changed for the better when he stopped living for himself and turned to God.

I don’t understand how people can be so negative. I mean, I know I can be a negative battery on sour days, but when people do it every single day? And constantly making it publicly known? Negativity is such a burden. You get nowhere with it. So why continue to bring yourself down with discouragement? Turn that discouragement into encouragement and do something that will make you…happy. It’s like that cliché saying “life is too short to be unhappy,” and it’s true, but it’s only through Christ that you find true happiness and a heart of peace.

Have you ever thought of being perfect? I know it’s humanly impossible to be perfect perfect; we just can’t do it. But being perfect as in smiling at everyone, doing nice gestures, respecting elders, caring towards everyone, being nice to everyone, not getting angry or creating conflicts, no swearing, no disrespecting, sitting up straight, catching up with a friend you haven’t spoken to in months or more, telling your parents “I love you,” don’t let the little things get to you, no sighing, and just taking in every moment of your day as a precious gift. Anyone is capable of doing this. I think if people did this even just for a day, the world would be a better place.

Easier said than done of course.

I remember at LU Miles McPherson was speaking in convo and he said “Turn everything in your life into a Cairo moment.” Chronos moments are moments where life just passes you by minute by minute; it’s just bland. Cairo moments are the moments that make you stop and say “Wow.” It’s those moments that take your breath away.

Currently I feel empowered to do anything and I know it’s nothing but the Holy Spirit’s doing.

This is me in this happiness zone.

2011, let’s do something epic. Cairos epic.

Psalm 37:4

Nothing compares to Your embrace. Light of the world, Forever Reign.
